I.T. recommends that passwords or passphrases (watch the "E-Safe: Passphrases - Having Safe 密码" video) have a minimum length of 16 characters because longer passwords are harder to crack. Almost any 8-character password can be cracked with powerful computers in less than two hours 和 10 characters in a matter of days, but a 16-character password could take years to break. 

To change your password, you will need to enter your NetID username 和 current password (if you forgot your password, 去 忘记了密码 on the menu to the left). The new password you create should be easy for you to remember but hard for others to guess. 

  • 让它们变长: To make passwords strong, they should be at least 16 characters long. When it comes to passwords, longer is stronger.
  • 让它们变得复杂: To increase password strength even more include letters, 数字, 标点符号, 和 even misspelled words.
  • Use a password manager: 密码 should be unique for every system you use. To help with generating 和 managing all of your unique passwords, we recommend using a password manager product such as LastPass, Bitwarden or 1Password.

注意: The Changing Your Password process will time-out, so it is best to know your password before you begin.

Perform the following steps to change your password:

  1. 去 the Password Self Service 登录 page..
